[th]LIZARDSTAR
pale ginger tabby tom with greenish amber eyes
Tom
48 moons
Leader of BirdClan
Personality:Lizardstar is a thoughtful cat. He prefers to avoid conflict if he can, and would rather talk out a situation than use his claws. This does not mean he would not fight to protect his Clan if he need to however.
He loves to learn new things, even now. When he was an apprentice, this is one of the traits that allowed he and his mentor to get on so well.
He is a loyal tom cat with a big heart and a loud concience. He loves every cat in BirdClan even if they annoy him sometimes and would protect any with his remaining lives.
He isn't all happy butterfly perfect though, no. Lizardstar has a great ability for self-doubt and always feels the need to talk over ideas or suggestions with trusted senior warriors before jumping into action, as he always feels that he will mess up somehow.
He is a rather strict tom cat, perhaps even too strict at times. The death of his brother when he broke the rules and ran off into the forest alone made Lizardstar want to always make sure cats are follwing the rules for their own protection. It is true that there have been little groups of apprentices muttering about how unfair he is, but he would not change his ways to gain their favor. Better to keep them alive and disliking how strict he was than loose them.
However, if you are too strict with cats, they sometimes will lauch retalitory forces. Lizardstar has been told this by his mother many times and has tried to stop being so controlling, but has found it difficult.
Despite his natural incling to avoid conflict, Lizardstar does have a snappish side to him. Certain things just set him off for some reason. There are some buttons that you can push and not anger him, but then there are those buttons that you push and you'd best run away.
When really irritated, Lizardstar can become fierce and more quick to leap into a battle that he normaly would.
Appearance:
Lizardstar could be considered a handsome tom cat. He has long, graceful limbs and a medium sized tail. His body is lean and muscular though not bulky. He has medium sized ears that stick up proudly from atop his head.
He has strong shoulders and obvious leg muscles, but Lizardstar is no where near to being one of the most powerful cats around. He more relies on the speed that comes with his long limbs as opposed to brute strength.
His pelt consists of two layers. The top layer is a pale orange color with slightly darker tabby markings. This top layer is thin and wiry and repels water pretty well. The undercoat to his pale pelt is a thicker layer, one that keeps him warm during leaf-bare. The under layer is a translucent white color and is part of what allow his pelt to be such a pale color.
The only indiscretions from this pale ginger tabby coat are a somewhat lighter colored belly and white fur that pokes up around his muzzle. Aside from those patches, he is a solid pale ginger tabby.
He has strong, sturdy paws that hide thick, thorn like claws. His claws are your average whiteish color with small leanings of brown. They are kept sharp and clean though Lizardstar does prefer not to use them if he can avoid it.
Lizardstar has rather short whiskers, at odds with his long legs. His face is in even proportion with the rest of his body and sits atop his strong shoulders with an easy grace. His nose is pink with flecks of blackish brown throughout.
Laced along his body are your typical scars from battles past. One scar in particular is very notable which is one along his flank from a battle with a fox when he was an apprentice. Incidentally, this was also the battle where Lizardstar's brother Rowanpaw accumulated the wounds that lead to his death. Due to this fact, Lizardstar wears this scar with greiving pride.
Lizardstar has rather uninteresting greenish amber eyes. They are not attention drawers nor would any cat dote upon them, but they do hold intelligence within their depths and flashes of emotion can be seen flashing through them regularly. The coloration of greenish amber also does not much stick out from amongst the pale ginger fur.
History:Lizardstar was born into a normal family. His parents Sandflower and Russetface were both full BirdClan cats and therefore so are Lizardstar and his siblings.
Lizardstar had two siblings at the time of birth; Rosestream and Rowanpaw. Rosestream was a long legged beauty with pale ginger fur and light green eyes. Rowanpaw meanwhile was a strong youth with darker ginger fur than his siblings and wide amber eyes.
Sandflower and Russetface had your typical relationship. No heroic swooping in to save the damsel in distress or forbidden love there. They had known one another since Sandflower was a kit in the nursery and Russetface an older apprentice. Things just went from there and they ended up with three kits whom they loved very much.
Lizardstar also had a typical kithood. He was doted on by his parents, had little arguments with his siblings and dreamed of being the best warrior he could be. He never really thought of being leader, in fact that was more his sister. Rosestream was the sibling with the ambition. She would always go on about how she was going to become leader and make BirdClan the best Clan it can possibly be.
Well, kithood ended and the three siblings were thrust into apprenticeship. Rosestream was given a sweet she-cat called Raintail as her mentor, Rowanpaw was given a sturdy tom called Redheart as his mentor and Lizardstar was given a modest tom called Dustleg as his mentor.
Lizardstar and Dustleg got on pretty well, both having similar temperments and Lizardstar having such an egarness to learn. Rosestream got on fairly well with her mentor as well, despite her large personality which sometimes overpowered those with smaller personalities like Raintail. It was Rowanpaw who had trouble with his mentor Redheart. The two always seemed to be at odds over something.
It was this inablity to cooperate perhaps, that lead to Rowanpaw's death. One day, Redheart punished Rowanpaw for sleeping in when he was meant to go on the Dawn Patrol, by making him stay in the next day to clean the elder's of ticks and replace their bedding.
Rowanpaw was furious by this and decided that he was above such punishments. He snuck out of the camp with the pretense of fetching some more moss and rushed off to have an adventure. Well, that adventure went quite wrong when a fox, sniffing around for it's next meal, came across the ginger tom cat.
Rowanpaw did his best to fight off the fox, but it outmatched him in size and strength. Luckily, a patrol was near and heard the disturbance. Lizardstar was on that patrol, that came across Rowanpaw and the startled fox. They chased away the fox and brought Rowanpaw back to camp to see the medicine cat, but his wounds were too extensive to cure. He died later that night with his siblings and parents beside him.
The rest of Lizardstar's apprenticeship was rather subdued after that. He and Rosestream greived deeply for their brother and their greif was shown by the way of Rosestream not speaking up as much and Lizardstar becoming less outgoing. However, both went along with their training, for, as their mother had always told them, life goes on.
Upon their 12th moon, Rosestream and Lizardstar were made warriors. They watched proudly as their parents chanted their new names along with the rest of the Clan and sat their vigil with their heads held high. Lizardstar never asked Rosestream, but he swears that he could feel Rowanpaw sitting with them as well.
Now, their warriorship is when more things started to happen. Rosestream found love in Rowanpaw's old mentor, Redheart and after about 10 moons, announced that she was pregnant with his kits. Lizardstar and their parents were very happy for Rosestream as she moved into the nursery, excited to start her family; all thought of becoming leader forgotten.
During the time Rosestream was in the nursery, tragedy struck the family once more. Russetface was infected with green-cough and passed on to StarClan. Sandflower and her kits greived for the loss, but the aging she-cat forced herself and her kits to push through their sadness and live on.
However, the sadness continued when Rosestream died giving birth. Lizardstar still does not know why such a healthy she-cat should have died kitting, but he secretly believes that she was so emotionally distressed, she didn't have the power to go on.
So now it was just Lizardstar and Sandflower. Redheart still was friendly to them both, connected to them by his love of Rosestream and Rowanpaw. The two were very close, and Sandflower always urged Lizardstar to stay true and not dwell on the past.
As the moons went on, Sandflower has grown older and older. After a while, she asked to be moved to the elders den and remians there to this day.
Meanwhile, as those same moons moved on, Lizardstar was moving through the ranks of the Clan without really meaning to. He always did what he thought was best for the Clan, and this is perhaps what made the leader before him choose him as her successor.
Lizardstar was made deputy at 32 moons of age and did his best to be a great deputy for BirdClan. He did have his ups and downs of course, but nothing too dramatic. When he was 40 moons of age, the leader he had respected so much, lost her last life in a battle with a badger.
With that, leadership of BirdClan was thrust into Lizardstar's paws. He was nervous about being leader of course; would he be able to do BirdClan justice? Would he fail?
He was given his nine lives as all leaders are and has been leader for 3 moons now. He has lost one life in the time elapsed though still has 8 more left to serve his Clan with.
Family:Sandflower (Mother, NP)
Russetface (Father, StarClan)
Rowanpaw (Brother, StarClan)
Rosestream (Sister, StarClan)
Notes:The image of Lizardstar was taken by me of a cat that random walked into my garage last summer. Please no sticky paws (:
